Award-winning short film ‘HOME’ at Urania cinema on Monday

The award-winning short film “HOME” by British director Daniel Mulloy will have its Hungarian premiere next Monday 16 October at 6 pm, at the Urania cinema in Budapest. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and question-and-answer session moderated by Hungarian journalist Piroska Bakos.

Every year on World Food Day 16 October, FAO proposes a topic relating to food and food security, organizing events that contribute to the public debate. This year’s World Food Day theme is “Change the future of migration.”

Panelists taking part in the event include:

• András Kováts, Director of Menedék / Hungarian Association for Migrants , sociologist, researcher
• Argentina Szabados, Director for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, International Organization for Migration (IOM)
• Vladimir Rakhmanin, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia

“HOME is a touching and thought-provoking work,” said FAO senior communication officer Sharon Lee Cowan. “It is a film that challenges us to examine our own attitudes, values, and prejudices towards migration and migrants.”

Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Discussion will be in English, with informal Hungarian translation if needed.

Also planned for Budapest on Monday is the 12th annual World Food Day Food Convoy, organized by the Hungarian Foodbank Association and FAO, together with numerous private-sector partners.

World Food Day this year marks the 72nd anniversary of the founding of FAO in 1945. Countless public events are scheduled across Europe and Central Asia, at FAO headquarters in Rome, and worldwide.
