Training on the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas
İstanbul (Türkiye), 23/01/2023 - 25/01/2023
Peasants and rural populations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia are facing critical challenges, aggravated by multiple crisis. In addition, there is a lack of actors with the ability to train the local communities on sustainable agricultural practices and policies. Small-scale family farmers can be instrumental in elevating human rights in the food and agriculture sector – a key element in ensuring the sustainability of food security.
To support countries in addressing the above-mentioned issues, FAO, together with the Eco Ruralis Association from Romania, is organizing a training in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 23–25 January 2023. The main objective of the training workshop is to build the capacity of relevant governmental agencies and other stakeholders, on the implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas and at the same time on the UN Decade for Family Farming 2019–2028, addressing agroecology as the desired model of production and societal organization.
